Free Wet Berthing and Dry Parking for UAE Nationals in Al Dhafra Region

New initiative launched for the benefit of local community, contributing to the growth of Abu Dhabi’s maritime industry.

Abu Dhabi, UAE – 05 May 2023: Al Dhafra Region is set to experience a surge in boating and pleasure crafting as Abu Dhabi Maritime, part of AD Ports Group, and Abu Dhabi’s Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), have united their efforts to provide free of charge wet berthing and dry parking in Al Dhafra Region for UAE nationals. 

The initiative is part of Abu Dhabi Maritime’s and DMT’s commitment to give back to Al Dhafra region and strengthen its maritime community by enhancing local employment opportunities and retaining local heritage and culture.

To be eligible for the free boat parking, interested applicants must be UAE Nationals residing in Al Dhafra region and provide the necessary documentation, including Emirates ID, a valid boat licence, and proof of residency in the region. Application approval will allow residents access to dry and wet berths, regardless of the number of boats owned. To apply, residents must submit their documents at their relevant marina office which includes Sila, Delma, Al Marfa and Al Fiyay.

In preparation for the launch of the new initiative, 696 berths will be immediately available, with a further 116 berths to be introduced at Jabel Dhanna, currently under construction. All types of privately registered boats, including fishing boats, leisure boats, and traditional dhows are eligible, excluding commercial vessels.

Speaking about the initiative, H.E. Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, said, "In line with our leadership’s vision to support the prosperity of our local communities, we are delighted to launch this new initiative, which will support the maritime industry, whilst conserving the local identity and regional legacy. In addition, we hope that this initiative will contribute to increasing employment opportunities for residents within the region."
